The 39-year-old central defender, who has only a few months left on his current Blues contract, could head back to Brazil in the summer as his former club Fluminense have show interest. Silva is reportedly in touch with the Brazilian giants and speaks to the club president 'every week'.

Speaking to , Fluminense sporting director Fred claimed: "Thiago Silva has been a dream of ours for a long time, the president talks to him almost every week. Thiago has a contract in England, we’re rooting for him, I personally am a friend of his, and I’m a big fan of his character, and he deserves all the best. He knows that here the doors are wide open for him to return.
"There’s nothing [imminent]. We have to be careful not to put pressure on Thiago. The fans love Thiago, we love Thiago, and Thiago loves Fluminense. One day it’s inevitable, it will happen, it’s the player’s wish, the club’s wish and we hope it happens as soon as possible."

The Brazil international spent two and a half seasons at the Tricolor from 2006 to 2009 before heading to AC Milan, where he became an established name. The Blues have been actively looking for a new centre-back and have been linked with a move for Lille youngster Leny Yoro. They have also kept Sporting CP's Ousmane Diomande and Nice's Jean-Clair Todibo on their shortlist.
