After winning back-to-back World Cups in 2015 and 2019, the star-studded United States women's national team faltered in the last edition in 2023 as they exited the tournament from the group stage having lost to Sweden in the tie-breaker.

Morgan, who has been part of the national team setup for more than a decade, has vowed to stage a strong comeback at the Olympics in Paris in 2024 after the disappointment in Australia last year. The USWNT has enjoyed success in the current calendar year having won two consecutive titles – the CONCACAF W Gold Cup and the SheBelievesCup.

Speaking to , the 34-year-old said, "Having had the defeat that we did at the World Cup kind of makes us want to feel like, we want to prove to ourselves how far we can get and that we are worthy of competing and winning every game.
"We have to bring our best every single game and have that World Cup and the bitterness behind us. We definitely want to feel what it feels like to have victory again, especially on the highest stage possible."
