Goals win you games, and for Manchester United, that has largely come from the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial – the duo have netted a combined 26 times this season already. But whilst their star forwards have helped carry the burden of finding the back of the net, the rest of the team have been rather goal-shy.
Goals from midfield in particular appears to be an area of major concern for the Red Devils. The likes of Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, and Andreas Pereira have all had their shot at trying to help their forwards, but none of them have truly convinced. It is quite a startling fact that even with all three of their statistics this campaign put together, they only have three goals and six assists between them.

It is comes as no surprise therefore, that according to The Daily Mail, United are considering a move for Norwich’s Todd Cantwell in the summer. The 21-year-old has been in fine form for the Canaries this season, scoring six times and providing a further two assists from a variety of positions. And after hearing their links to the £13.5m-rated prospect, fans of the Manchester side flooded to Twitter to voice their thoughts on their supposed target.

Some fans expressed their frustrations at seeing United appear to once again target British and home-grown players, and insisted that this transfer approach could potentially cost them from signing real quality.
A few supporters even compared Cantwell to Lingard, poking fun at the duo’s dance celebrations after scoring a goal.
A couple of fans of the Manchester side even urged the Red Devils to look at Cantwell’s Norwich teammate Emiliano Buendia instead.
With six goals already to his name in the Premier League, Cantwell has certainly taken a shine to life in the top-flight. The Red Devils have already seen the fruits of their work in signing players under the radar in the summer when they secured the signature of Daniel James from Championship side Swansea – the Wales international has netted three times and provided seven assists.
If United look past the team Cantwell plays for, and judge him on what he has produced this season, it could prove to be another shrewd acquisition.
Meanwhile, this former Manchester United star has delivered his verdict on what he wants to see more of from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
