Birmingham have now turned to experience in a bid to bring about a reversal in fortune, with the managerial reins handed to former West Brom, Blackburn, Middlesbrough, Celtic and Sunderland boss Mowbray.

Mowbray takes over at St Andrew’s with Birmingham sat 20th in the Championship – six points clear of the second tier relegation zone. His first game in charge will be at home to Swansea on Saturday, with the January transfer window open if he decides to ask Brady and the Blues board for reinforcements.
